On an instrument of ten strings, I will praise Thee - Psalm 144:9
During the later part of 1999, Nick Reed, a Nashville steel guitar player, decided that Nashville, the home of Country Music, should have a steel guitar club, just as Texas, Arkansas, Florida, Oregon, Arizona, Indiana, and Missouri do. He called the first meeting, held on the first Tuesday of the year, January 4, 2000. It was held at the then, Ponderosa Steakhouse, in Springfield, Tn. The organization was named "North Tennessee Steel Guitar Association". Almost 30 of the most prominent steel players in the business showed up for the first meeting!
Nick was the first President of the club.
When Nick passed the torch over to Jan Jones in 2002, it was decided that the organization should move to Nashville, thus renaming it to "Nashville Tennessee Steel Guitar Association", as it is known, today.
The new year celebrates 25 years of Nick's vision, and we couldn't be prouder!
Mission: To continue the great and honored tradition of the Steel Guitar in Country Music, and the preservation and engagement of the instrument to the younger generation.
